Achieving Career Exploration through Service
What Should I Know About The A.C.E.S. Class?
• A.C.E.S. is a 1- credit class offered in Spring 2016
• The A.C.E.S. class combines career planning and service learning.
• The A.C.E.S. class is open only to residence hall students.
• The A.C.E.S. class meets on Wednesdays from 2-3 p.m.
• The course number for the A.C.E.S. class is ENG 157.
• Class size is limited.
Why Should I Sign Up?
You will recieve college credit while gaining practical experience, providing service to
the community, enchancing your resume, learning and having fun!
Some of the topics covered includes:
• professional etiquette
• resume writing and critiquing
• cover letter writing and critiquing
• interview preparation
• service learning theory and concepts
• service opportunities
• the Campbell Skills and Interest Survey
You must reside in the
residence halls to participate
in the A.C.E.S. class.
What is service learning?
The opportunity for you to learn while
being of service to others in the community.
“Service combined with learning adds value
to each and transforms both” (Service
Learning in Higher Education).
What will my service project be?
You will help determine what your service
learning project will be. Projects can be
done with a Stevens Point or campus
community resource such as your
residence hall.

Deadline:
While there is no deadline for applying, there
is a limited number of seats available in the
class. Applications are evaluated as they are
received.
Materials:
There are no books required for the class,
but there is a nominal fee for the Campbell
Interest and Skill Survey.
How will I know if I have been
accepted into the A.C.E.S. class?
You will be notified via your UWSP email
account as soon as possible.
Course registration process:
Once your application is reviewed and you
have been accepted, you will be contacted
and then register for the class (ENG 157)
during your class registration period (or add
it if you have already registered).
