Associated Press 08-31-06 Feingold warns Democrats against being "too timid" AMES, Iowa Democrats face a historic opportunity in this year's midterm election, but could let it slip away if they become too timid. That's according to Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold, a Democrat who was in Iowa today to talk with activists and students at Iowa State University. Feingold says a combination of President Bush's low approval rating and voters unhappy with a Republican-led Congress gives Democrats a chance to make solid gains this year. But, he says they must remain aggressive. Feingold cites his early and ardent opposition to the war in Iraq as a way to help fire up Democrats and other voters. Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
