Associated Press 06-05-06 Family Of ISU Student Killed In Hit-And-Run File Lawsuit Driver, Party Hosts Named In Lawsuit NEVADA, Iowa -- The family of an Iowa State University student who was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Ames has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a group of students they say are responsible for her death. Douglas and Pamela Laughery, parents of Kelly Laughery, filed the lawsuit this week in Story County District Court. Named in the lawsuit are Shanda Munn, whom the Laugherys claim hit their daughter while driving home from a keg party, and four other ISU students who the Laughery family contends hosted the keg party -- Jody George, Nicholas Tonelli, Tony Galante and Kelly Campbell. Munn, an ISU sophomore from Lawler, was arrested on Feb. 11 by ISU Police on charges of vehicular homicide and failing to stop at the scene of an accident where a person died. Her trial is scheduled to begin in October. According to police records, Laughery, of Orient, was found lying on the side of the road in the early morning on Dec. 2. She was transported to a hospital where she later died.
