Senior Lecturer (Aerospace Engineering) AD-1701-05 Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Graduate School of Engineering and Applied Sciences Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) in the Graduate School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) invites applications for the position of senior lecturer in the field of Aerospace Engineering. We are seeking candidates with core strengths in areas, such as: Spacecraft Propulsion, Spacecraft Design and Integration. The candidate must have a strong commitment to graduate teaching. The candidate must be able to manage a distance learning program in Aerospace Engineering currently delivered to graduates of the United States Navy Test Pilot School. We are seeking a colleague to join our vibrant department, which has a long history of excellence in Naval, Astronautical, Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering. The MAE Department has a strong research infrastructure, such as facilities including wind and water tunnels, autonomous systems and spacecraft design laboratories, an experienced group of technical staff, and computational resources. The MAE department promotes interdisciplinary teaching and research, including Total Ship Systems Engineering and Space Systems Engineering. In short, the candidate must be able to teach in both the Mechanical Engineering Curriculum, as well as the Astronautical Engineering Curriculum, the two major curricula within the department. A senior lecturer teaches subjects offered by the assigned department; may supervise and evaluate theses and dissertations; maintains currency in the discipline, to meet Department of Navy (DoN) needs, and to provide student research topics; provides expert disciplinary advice to entities in DoN and Department of Defense (DOD); provides some academic service to Naval Postgraduate (NPS).
