Child Development DESCRIPTION WORK ENVIRONMENT The child development program is designed to prepare students for employment in preschool programs. Graduates may be employed as aides, teachers, or directors of private preschool programs. Preschool teachers work in schools, childcare centers, and charitable organizations. Many work the traditional month month school year, but some work the full year. JOB OUTLOOK Employment of preschool teachers is projected to grow seventeen percent from 2012 to 2022, faster than the average for all occupations. Growth is expected due to a continued focus on the importance of early childhood education and the growing population of children ages three to five.
