Public perception to PCBs in contaminated regions
• PCBs awareness was poor
• Higher awareness to skin-deep knowledge at rural areas,
while higher awareness to in-depth knowledge at urban areas
• Perception to local PCBs pollution was influenced by the
governmental actions, time span and location of residence
• Measures to acquire PCBs knowledge were limited
• Measures were limited much more in rural than in urban area
• Poor participation and activities
• Participation was limited by many factors and was difficult to
common public
• Participation varied from region to region, was influenced by
the distance between pollution site and living place,
respondents’ education status and their perception to local

Suggestion for POPs control in China
• An integrated strategic framework for
POPs management
• Advanced technologies and methods for
POPs prevention and control
• A complete supervision system for
POPs reduction
• Inter-linkage among government, NGOs,
institutes, enterprises and other
stakeholders
• Regional or international collaboration
and exchange
Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences
Suggestion for elevating environmental bearing capacity in Bohai
surrounding regions
• Constructing coordinator organization for sustainable development in
bohai surrounding regions
• Drafting and enacting Environmental protection laws for Bohai
• Promoting economic structure adjustment and pollutants elimination
in key industry
• Strengthening environmental monitoring
• Establishment for forecast, early warning and emerging-response
system for environmental accidents
