Chabot College Distance Education Committee
Remember Program Review??
This Friday, February 23rd, from 11 a.m. to noon, the Program Review
Committee wants to meet with us to:
1) Review our basic data;
2) Review our project proposals and ask questions and clarifications; and
3) Generate a draft of a timeline for your second and third year of working on our project
Yes, it’s a Friday, but we need significant representation from the DE Committee at that meeting. Please
plan to attend. I’m expecting some more information about our online students from Institutional
Research soon, and may have that to share with all of you on Friday.
Online Course Proposal Update:
To date, we’ve received 17 proposals from fast track instructors and 30 proposals from new instructors. Ten
of these appear to be for future semesters. These proposals encompass all divisions, and include the first
forays into online teaching for Fire Technology, Physics, Real Estate, Ecology, Ethnic Studies, Geography,
ECD, Mass Communications, Political Science, Spanish, Humanities, and Math. There is also a PACE
English course.
Last year, we reviewed 18 proposals. Last semester, we reviewed 18 proposals. This semester, we review 47
proposals. No wonder we’re so stressed!
Friendly Reminders:
 Complete written proposal
reviews by 3/6
 Complete BOLT fast track
instructor reviews by 3/6
 Next DE Committee meeting

We are not alone! Have you seen the latest
projections of online course growth for
California community colleges?
