Chabot College February 1996 Course Outline for Theater Arts 47 COLLEGE THEATER ACTING Catalog Description: 47 - College Theater Acting May be repeated. Limit 24 units. 1-6 units Participation in cast of scheduled major production. Enrollment is for the duration of the production. Enrollment by audition only. 3-18 hours laboratory. Expected Outcomes for Students: Upon completion of this course, the student should: 1. have developed a greater understanding of the process of characterization from initial reading to final performance; 2. have developed skills for building a character including the discovery of inner resources that can be used to create a role; 3. have a greater awareness of the ensemble effort needed among actors in a drama production; 4. have developed a sense of responsibility to self and others in the process of preparing a drama production; 5. have an understanding of the collaborative effort required between the acting areas and all the design/technical areas that contribute to the drama production; 6. experience the feelings of confidence and joy that comes with the achievement of the finished performance.
