INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS – WRESTLING
Catalog Description:
39 – Intercollegiate Athletics – Wrestling
(May be repeated three times)
2 Units
Training for intercollegiate competition. Students who desire to participate in intercollegiate athletics will
be required to adhere to academic eligibility requirements listed in the CCCAA/ COA manual, pass a
physical examination by a licensed medical doctor and demonstrate an ability to safely participate in the
specific intercollegiate sport. Compliance with all rules/ regulations governing the specific intercollegiate
sport will also be required. Daily practice. 10 hours.
[Typical contact hours: 175 hours]
Prerequisite Skills:
Should have competed on an interscholastic team or high school team or taken the beginning
wrestling class to be eligible for this class.
Expected Outcomes for The Students:
Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:
1. Demonstrate advanced skills of wrestling.
2. Demonstrate increased level of physical conditioning from the beginning of the semester in a
progressive sequence.
3. Demonstrate an advanced level of wrestling skill for competition.
4. Demonstrate the roles of leadership, team play, sportsmanship and other social values
related to team competition.

(Note: The Intercollegiate Athletic program furnishes game and practice uniforms and special
protective equipment. Also students must go through challenge matches in every weight class to
be able to wrestle in Dual meets and/or Tournament. Only number one and two man or woman
will wrestle in matches.)
