MARTIAL ARTS AQUATICS
Catalog Description:
PHED 2MAA – Martial Arts Aquatics
1 unit
This course is designed to safely incorporate martial arts moves into aquatic fitness. Learn how water
provides total body resistance while protecting against injury. The class will meet 3 hours per week.
Prerequisite Skills:
None
Expected Outcomes for the Students:
Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:
1. demonstrate a higher degree of physical fitness.
2. improve strength.
3. have a basic understanding of martial arts techniques.
Course Content:
1. The fundamentals of strength and resistance exercises.
2. The integration of basic martial arts with aquatic exercise.
Methods of Presentation:
Verbal explanation and demonstration.
Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress:
Class attendance and participation.
