classroom evaluation forms (See Attached)

ƒ TTS inquired if the lectern itself was ADA compliant in case of need by a disabled instructor; the
answer was no.
ƒ Lighting controls are built into lectern
o Max light-level is quite bright
ƒ Lectern contain a side pull-out drawer with a Hi-Res document camera
o This “ELMO” camera also projects 3D objects quite nicely
ƒ i.e., the camera has good depth-of-field
ƒ CF noted that the ELMO must be Unplugged prior to closing its storage drawer
o CF suggested adding an Internal cable path
ƒ Lectern switched easily between the built-in PC and a separate laptop
ƒ The Smart White Board writing
o Shows up on the projector screen
o Can printed on room printer
ƒ BMayer observations

ƒ
ƒ
ƒ
ƒ
o Seat & Table heights are tool-adjustable
o Each room has the required number of ADA-compliant seats
Remote control unit operated both the screen and projector
No built-in computer; laptop plugged in on the instructor table showed up on screen immediately
DVD played housed in a lockable, fold-down cabinet mounded on the side-wall
CF noted that this room has a “cooler” color than rm1814
Room 904 Demo by CW
ƒ SO comments
o Desk are NOT adjustable, and have book-rack under table-top
o PolyVision Smart white-board MUST be cleaned with Water-ONLY
ƒ “Windex-like” white-board cleaners leave smeared residue
ƒ Room has recessed lighting that is quite pleasant
ƒ Room has ceiling-mounted speakers
ƒ Same wall-mounted room and technology control-box as in room 508
ƒ In addition to the hand-held remote, this room has an instructor-table mounted control console
ƒ Nice Demo of writing on smart- white-board that sends the drawn image to the screen
Room 2205 Demo by CW
ƒ SO comments
o Tables have built-in 115 VAC power outlets for use by students to power laptop computers
ƒ Tables also have the Option for an Ethernet network connection
o Chairs also have spring-loaded back support
ƒ Room controlled thru either of
o Large screen FPD touch screen on instructor table
o Book-sized touch-screen controller
ƒ Room does NOT have a PC, but has a presentation system that
o Has viewers for PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
o Connects to Internet
ƒ TTS noted that the fan in the wall-mounted controller in rooms 508, 904, 2205 are a bit noisy
o Closing the Wall-Mounted cabinet reduced the noise significantly
ƒ In my personal opinion, this sound level is quite acceptable as
• The dB level is low (to my ears)
• The noise is “white” and constant, and quite easy to “tune out”
TTS noted that the next meeting after the convocation presentations would be September 14, 2006
TTS adjourned the meeting at 1:33pm
Respectfully submitted,
Bruce Mayer, PE
Tim Steele, Chair
