November 29, 2007 12 Noon, Room 1506 In attendance: See attached sheets Central Utility Plant: The loop trench, Phase 1, will be finishing in January with backfilling and paving. The loop trench, Phase 2, will begin in January 2008. We plan to perform some noisier work over the holiday break when fewer people are around New signs indicating what is going on have been installed, i.e. “your dollars at work” There will be some noise during these activities. Plan of Work – 2007/08 Buildings 800/900/1000, IOB, CSSC and Parking Lots will all be under construction during the Spring Semester. The front of the campus will be heavily impacted. FF&E Budget Current funding is at 2.8% of construction dollars whereas industry standard is around 6% to 10% of construction value. We estimate that the FF&E budget is approximately $7million under funded. We have enough funding to complete those projects currently under construction. Depending on the outcome of our spring bids (Parking Lots, IOB, CSSC) budgeted at $55million, we will have a much better idea of where we stand. Construction Signage Three types being proposed: 1. Directional – samples are around campus 2. Project Specific – i.e. CSSC, IOB, 800/900 3. Project Global – to show progress of the program across the campus. M&O Building Building 3600 was to be a surge space for the Industrial Tech Bldg. 1400 The M&O activities would have had to be relocated to a new building Building 3600 was not DSA approved and therefore cannot house students It is no longer necessary to construct the new M&O building This project is on hold Tree Removal / Relocation Before we begin demolition we will be relocating 5 significant trees. The new ring road, parking lots, IOB, CSSC and drop off area will cause us to remove trees Chabot College We will be planting new trees at a ratio of approximately 2 added for every one removed. The roe garden between Bldg. 800 and 900 will be relocated. Board of Trustees Agenda Renovation of Building 800/900/1000 Central Plant Task Order #3, Central Plant design Change order for HMC professional services Sustainability Committee Dr. Carlson reported that the Faculty Senate has requested a “Committee on Green” that can monitor the campus and the Bond’s progress on sustainability issues. Dr. Carlson recommended that we combine our current Facilities Committee with a Sustainability Committee. It would save time and we are already addressing “Green” issues in our Facilities meetings. Dr. Carlson pointed out a laundry list of “Chabot Greening” over the last 5 years: Green Cleaning Products Where and how we buy products and services Bicycle racks Co-generation plant for heat for the pool Waterless Urinals Cool roofs Waste reduction on campus of 75% Certified Silver level LEED for new buildings Energy Efficient lighting Central Utility Plant Use of paper instead of plastic or Styrofoam AC Transit on campus Itemized List Discussion: - Additional communication was recommended by the committee.
