MINUTES:
1. Robert led today’s meeting (because Christine Park is sick). The meeting started at
12:05 with a welcome note.
2. Approval of prior minutes. The minutes were approved unanimously.
3. Learning Assessment Coordinator Position Update. There are adjuncts who are
interested in this position. We will have somebody at the end of this week.
Christine’s last day is March 31st.
4. Share CLO Status Report. Stephen pointed out that SLOAC website has inaccurate
information about autotech department (courses assessed and SLO’s completed).
Robert’s eLUMEN report is up-to-date. Robert linked all math and science classes.
We won’t assess 9900, 4900, 9 and 29 series and will not count.
Starting this semester (spring12), if the course is not linked, go ahead and link that
course. When you do so, you have access to all campus courses.
If a course is double link, delete that course. If there is any double entry, let Rob
know what is the correct one. In that case, he will hide the incorrect version.
Robert showed the eLUMEN linked courses to the committee members. If
committee rep can link the courses, that is acceptable.
One suggestion is that link the SLO at the day of the final. If adjunct faculty taught
in summer but did not input the data, they can enter the data in Fall and close the
loop in Fall.
If somebody double links a course, that is easy to catch and can be taken care of.
For the program review, the SLO’s are available.
The class offered once a year, and adjunct leaves. We can invite them for FLEX day
and they will be paid (by MOU).
Rob will send out the FORM to each division that a given class needs to be assessed
and number of people need to assess the SLO probably today.
The committee members liked the reports sent by Rob. The reports have all the
courses that are in the catalog. The report goes as far as Fall 08. Only Fall 11
courses (and going forward) need to have all the courses assessed.
There are few classes that have not been offered and assessed due to budget
issues. If a class not offered for few years may need to be deactivated.
The program review is due on March 9th. For classes assessed in Fall, the closing
the loop form should be attached to Program Review Form and can be sent online to
the dean.
If you have new SLO’s, let Rob know since the SLO form is not available on line to
the faculty. In autotech, two courses are continuing and every other course has
course outlined and SLO changed.
5. Review dates & schedule
Our next meeting is on March 20th. The program review should be done by then.
New SLO coordinator will be available. Rob will have more updated data. (for
example, PE have courses that need to be assessed). Stephen will help Rob to work
with swimming, not all of PE. All the courses need to be assessed, not only Fall 11.
They will look back to some of the courses and review if they warrant assessment.
Deans will decide how many/which courses need to be assessed and which adjunct
will be compensated for their SLO work.
Charlotte may be joining us in the meeting.
6. Q & A
Stephen will take care of welding and make sure the courses are assessed.
Meeting adjourned at 12:50pm.
