Approval of Prior Minutes
• Steve motioned to approve and seconded by Rob. Minutes for Dec. 6, 2011
meeting were approved unanimously with addition of 2 attendees -- Harjot
Sawhney and Robert Yest.
Announced Rob Yest as the Learning Assessment Technical Support or the eLumen
support for Spring 2012. Jennifer Lange will be rolling off on February 1st, and Rob will
be the official contact person for eLumen clean up and support. Until then Jennifer will
continue to assist. In the meantime, Rob will be able to give eLumen account access
for faculty and generate reports. Carolyn Arnold is no longer the contact person for
eLumen account. This has been changed on the SLOAC website.
Discussion:
• Harjot has graciously volunteered to take minutes for SLOAC Comm. meetings
this semester, but will have to leave promptly at 12:45pm due to class at 1pm.
• The importance of getting adjuncts to enter Fall 2011 data & respond to 2
questions on time because we have to generate report for Deans so that
Divisions will have the information for FLEX Day activity (closing the loop &
program review discussion).
• Stephen (Steve) mentioned that we should have a time deadline to enter
eLumen data. The committee agreed to set it for 3pm on Wed, 2/1 and email
the college with the deadline. (This deadline was later changed to Tue, 1/31 by
5pm) in order to present the report to Deans meeting on Wed, 2/1).
• George commented that eLumen is not user-friendly. In meetings with other
schools who use eLumen software, all of them agreed that eLumen is not
intuitive for the user and not necessarily happy with it. The only school that was
•
•
•
okay with the software was one that hired an eLumen expert to assist. Everyone
present agreed the same sentiment about eLumen.
Rob shared that Math is doing great! Almost all of the faculty members have
entered scores into eLumen.
Harjot asked if the CHEM CLOs submitted in December 2011 have been entered
into eLumen. Chemistry is waiting to enter the scores from Fall 2011. Christine
said she’d follow up with Jennifer so we don’t duplicate the CLOs.
Revised Closing the Loop Form and Program Review Form have been uploaded
to the PRBC website for faculty use.
Discipline Lead Training
• Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012 – noon, room 405; led by Jennifer Lange (Stephen
Small will assist)
• Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012 – noon, room 405; led by Christine Park
Important Dates and Deadlines
• Feb. 1, 2012 by 3 pm – deadline to enter data for Fall 11 semester assessment
into eLumen
• Feb. 3, 2012 – Spring FLEX Day. Adjuncts are not obligated to attend or
participate, but will dismiss class towards the end of the semester for SLO work.
Depending on the division, closing the loop & program review discussion will
occur on this day so our data and report must be in on time.
• March 9, 2012 – Program Review Deadline
Meeting adjourned at 12:50pm.
