FACILITIES AND SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE MEETING Thursday, 25 Sept 2014 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Room 405 1. Updates on Measure B. Doug Horner presented updates on the PE Complex, including closeout and occupancy. Completion details on 1700/1800 Plaza. Contract for bottom floor of Bldg 100 approved by Board at Sept meeting—fencing and mitigation starting now. Campus signage: review of proposals. a. Discussion was held on campus signage, to increase labeling and publicity. A sign for the flyspace about the PAC was approved, as well as putting a college sign under the new readerboard Doug updated on the Hesperian Landscaping. Since this project had been approved several years ago, Dave Fouquet had questions about the scope of the project, and the possibility of still changing or delaying this project. 2. Greg Horne provided more details on the Bldg 100 project. Expected completion Fall 2015. Health Center requested move out during construction, and will be housed in 200 temporarily. TV/Radio will continue to function, as will the library. 3. Vanessa Cormier discussed the lab maintenance fees assessed by M&O and the business office for the ECD lab. These were only assessed at the end of the year, and seriously impacted budget for ECD. Committee drafted recommendation to District budget committee that these fees be waived, and approved letter. 4. First Year Experience, represented by Sean MacFarland requested space for food bank. Mark asked him to have students make a proposal with program needs and details. 5. Mark started a discussion of the need to have the Committee address the use and assignment of space for new programs, and for spaces that were now vacant. Too many times in past people simply claimed space, without consultation; or created a new program with no consideration for physical needs. The Committee would develop a system to address these issues, and make recommendations to the President’s office on assignment of space. 6. Flex Day---tour of empty spaces to be given by Mark 7. Good of the order Dave Fouquet mentioned the need to keep addressing upkeep and sustainability issues, such as painting, wall repair.
