May 13, 2010 12 Noon, Room 1506 In Attendance: See sign-in sheet Meeting Minutes: Minutes from previous meeting were distributed. Special Reports: A. B3400 Copy Center Relocation Update Tom Clark, Dean of Allied Technology and Business gave a report on the proposed relocation of the Copy Center from bldg. 3400 to bldg. 200. This was an outcome of the last facilities meeting (reference minutes of 2/26) where bldg 3400 was identified as the most logical swing space for the new Automotive Technology curriculum for the program in BMW certification. The need to have space available to kick-off this program has necessitated the swift move of the Copy Center into the newly vacated areas of bldg. 200. A question was posed regarding the lack of a roll-up door for deliveries in bldg. 200. No current place to accept the delivery of large shipments of paper in bldg. 200. Also some discussion ensued on whether we were moving from a traditional “print shop” activity to a “copy center” activity. B. Visitor Parking Nate Moore, Campus Safety Officer gave a report on the designation of 6 spots in front of the new CSSC for visitor parking on a 20-30 minute basis. Dave Fouquet questioned issues on path of travel surrounding the new bldg. 700. Doug Horner indicated many of these were being reviewed. Doug Horner also brought out the need to consult LEED issues for parking, as Low Emissions Vehicular parking would gather LEED points for this new building. Chabot College Facilities and Sustainability Committee Minutes Page 2 Project Status Update: Doug Horner delivered the project status update. Rumor Control: Monica Munger asked if the ivy had been poisoned, and did this have an impact on the death of some of the new plants. Doug Horner indicated that ivy was not poisoned, and the plantings were guaranteed for 4 months, so if any were dead or dying that the Swinerton Construction Management team needed to be notified. Other Matters Initiated: Dave Fouquet asked whether the access issues in bldg. 400 had been addressed yet. It was reported that a fix had been designed and was out for pricing. Installation should happen over the summer. Wanda Wong inquired whether the Do Not Exit signs on back door could be removed, and that these exits could now be used. It was reported that these signs can be removed when all landscaping activity is completed over the summer. Monica Munger indicated that the restroom doors in this building still slam when they close. Bob Collins will look into it. Dave Fouquet inquired about the aspect ratio on the video projectors in bldg. 1900. This has to do with programming. Doug Horner reported that bldg. 4000 was on the May board, but there was a bid protest still pending. Discussion ensued regarding the classroom sizes in bldg. 300. Wanda Wong wished to be included in this discussion as a business discipline representative. Tom Clark indicated the need for this user group to be expanded to include faculty who provide lecture based education. Signage outside of bldg. 700 was discussed. Ashley Long inquired whether some of the damaged asphalt that had been left behind especially that in the Grand Court would get replaced. Doug Horner indicated there was a budget for this.
