ABSTRACT
South Africa's Road Freight Industry is facing new challenges that will have an impact on normal business
operations. The extend that the possible implications could have would be far reaching if it is not addressed
and managed properly. HIV/AIDS, the lack of law enforcement and Black Economic Empowerment are
some of the most important challenges that must receive attention from both Government and operators. A
system of self regulation / accreditation could be considered to ensure quality and safety in the Industry.
