Introductions
Members introduced themselves.
Faculty Asst Chair/Secy
J. Burton will serve as assistant faculty chair/secretary for the 2014-15 academic year.
Committee Orientation
The committee reviewed and updated the contents of the Curriculum Handbook which
includes the tentative meeting schedule for the year, the mission and scope of duties of
the committee, guidelines for curricular revisions, and the assurance of learning process
and assessments for 2014-15. The Assurance of Learning Team meetings will be held
on the Tuesdays College Curriculum doesn’t meet, with representatives from each
department. October 31 was announced as the catalog deadline.
Future Agenda Items
Members reported anticipated curricular items to come before the committee this year.
GPA for Upper Division
The committee discussed the GPA requirement for enrollment in UBUS 310. Members
were asked to seek input from their departments whether the 2.75 GPA should stand or
be revised and also discuss whether the single course remains as the best delivery of the
four cross-functional areas of business.
Programming Course
A request for including CSCI 240 C++ as part of the business core was discussed. The
committee felt this was not justifiable at this time.
ACCY Items
Accountancy presented revisions to its undergraduate and graduate curriculum. B.
Cripe, chair of the department curriculum committee, was present to explain the changes.
K. Nyquist, communications instructor from Management, attended the meeting to offer
input regarding the proposed revision to the communication requirement for ACCY
majors. Further discussion will continue at the next meeting.
