Operation ∫teM Operation ∫teM provides students with a community of peers, assistance in calculus, and research opportunities to promote successful STEM* graduates. *Science, Technology, Engineering and Math What is Operation ∫teM? Operation ∫teM is a free program that provides an engaging experience for students interested in STEM-related majors to pass Precalculus and Calculus courses. Let's take a look at the first year: Summer 2013 ∮ Place into MTH 167 (Pre-Calc 1) ∮ Receive $300 after completing the Operation ∫teM 2-week Summer Institute ∮ Start bonding with a supportive peer group Fall 2013 ∮ Take MTH 167 (Pre-Calc 1) ∮ Attend group sessions with Peer Teachers ∮ Visit the Math Learning Center for one-onone tutoring with a Peer Teacher Spring 2014 ∮ Take MTH 168 (Pre-Calc 2) ∮ Continue learning in groups, one-on-one, and from your peers Summer 2014 ∮ Complete MTH 181 (Calc 1), receive $1000, and begin your sophomore year Calculus ready (a prerequisite for a STEM major) Why Operation ∫teM? Am I Eligible? In order to succeed in a STEM major, students must pass Calculus. However, the success rates for passing it in most universities are fairly low. If you are a First-Time, Full-Time Freshman, meaning an incoming freshman planning to take between 12 and 16 credit hours, then you qualify for Operation ∫teM.
