Minutes for Meeting of March 29, 2010
Due to a large number of proposals in March, an extra meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, March 29 at 3:00
p.m. in Holden Hall 129. Committee members present were: Jim Clopton, Greg Gellene, Ram Iyer, Jerry Koch,
Rich Rice, Anthony Qualin, Philip Pope, and David Roach. Presenters were: Gretchen Adams (History), and
Jeremy Mason (Chemistry).
1.
The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals from the
Department of History:
• Add HIST 4329 Race and Citizenship in the United States
• Add HIST 5318 History and Memory.
2.
The committee received a request from the Chair of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work to
postpone consideration of the following submitted proposals:
• Add ANTH 2101 Archaeology Laboratory
• Add ANTH 2315 Introduction to Language and Linguistics
• Add ANTH 2315 Introduction to Language and Linguistics to the list of courses that fulfill the
Humanities requirement in the Core Curriculum.
• Delete ANTH 3332 Peoples of Latin America
• Delete ANTH 3371 Peoples of the Southwest
• Delete ANTH 4372 Society and Culture of Mexico
• Delete SOC 3329 Sociology of Corrections

The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals from the
Department of Chemistry:
• Change Title/Description for CHEM 1105
• Change Title/Description for CHEM 1106
• Change Title/Description for CHEM 1301
• Change Title/Description for CHEM 1305
• Change Title/Description for CHEM 1306

Revised proposals from Geosciences were reviewed. The committee requests further information and
clarification so these proposals were tabled.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of ASCAP is scheduled for Monday, April 12, for proposals that reach the
committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, April 5.
