Minutes for Meeting of February 7, 2011
A scheduled meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, February 7 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129.
Committee members present were: Lee Cohen, Erin Collopy, David Lamp, Jerry Koch, Philip Pope, Rich
Rice, and David Roach. Presenters: Drs. Gafaiti and Zair (Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures)
and Dr. Ketner (Institute for Studies in Pragmaticism).
1. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals
from the Department of Classical & Modern Languages and Literatures:
Add ARAB 3305 Arab Muslim Civilization.
Add ARAB 3305 Arab Muslim Civilization to the list of courses that fulfill the Multicultural
Requirement in the TTU Core Curriculum.
Add ARAB 3305 Arab Muslim Civilization to the list of courses that fulfill the Humanities
Requirement in the TTU Core Curriculum.
2. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposal
from the Institute for Studies in Pragmaticism:
Add PRAG 7000 Independent Research in Peirce Studies.
3. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration
the following proposals from the Institute for Studies in Pragmaticism:
Add PRAG 6000 Independent Research in Peirce Studies.
Add PRAG 8000 Independent Research in Peirce Studies.
4. The committee voted to table the following proposal in view of needed revisions.
Add SOC 5360 Sociology of Globalization.
The next meeting of ASCAP has been rescheduled for Monday, March 21, for proposals that reach the
committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, March 14.
