Health and wellbeing at Monash Policy Purpose The University recognises that its staff are its greatest asset. This policy articulates the principles that underpin the University’s commitment to workplace health and wellbeing and provides guidance to support the development and implementation of health and wellbeing programs at the University. This commitment is articulated in the University OHS Policy to provide “providing a safe and healthy environment for work and study and to improve health and safety and prevent workplace injuries and illnesses”. Scope Staff at Australian campuses, sites and centres of Monash University Policy Statement The University aims to lead by example by creating a workplace culture and environment that values, supports and promotes programs and policies that improve the physical and mental health and wellbeing of employees. Supporting procedures The University aims to create a safe, healthy and resilient work environment by; Supporting guidelines Raising awareness within the workplace about issues that impact on health and wellbeing, including the health benefits of physical activity, healthy eating and mental health advocacy programs Creating and promoting a positive and equitable workplace environment where health and wellbeing programs are supported by management through visible participation and promotion Promoting and encouraging participation in proactive programs and policies that support the physical and mental health, wellbeing and work life balance initiatives at work and outside the workplace To educate employees about issues relating to health and wellbeing.
