Rainwater Harvesting System
This system uses two 55-gallon closed top food grade plastic barrels with connection
hardware found at local hardware and home improvement stores. A simple internet
search for plastic barrels will identify sources for both white and blue barrels.
Each barrel has two bungs on top, one has 3/4 inch threads that will be used to
attach the system’s drainage plumbing. Once the drainage plumbing is attached the
barrels will be turned upside down and placed on a cinder block base.

One 3/4” 90-degree slip/slip PVC fitting
One 3/4” Tee slip/slip/slip PVC fitting
One 3/4” hose bib
Two 1” threaded/slip PVC couplings
One 1” 90 degree threaded/slip PVC fitting
One length of 3/4” schedule 40 PVC pipe
One length of 1” schedule 40 PVC pipe
