OUTREACH MINISTRIES
OUTREACH MINISTRIES SIGN-UP WEEKEND will be October 14th/15th. Look for
materials and agency representatives in the gathering space of the upper church.
PLAN AHEAD! We’ll be having our annual winter clothing collection for the Guests at
Shattuck Shelter on the weekend of October 28th/29th. This will be a collection of winter clothing
only – gently used and clean sweaters, coats, warm jackets, warm pants, boots, gloves and scarves.
Reminder: 80% of the Guests are male.
IT’S NOT TOO LATE to pick up your registration envelope to do the Sunday, October 15th 10K (6.2
miles) Newton Walk for the World (aka CROP Walk) that begins and ends at United Parish of
Auburndale. Envelopes are on the table in the gathering space or you can register at the start of the
1PM Walk. You can also participate by sponsoring a Walker. Questions? Call Sr. Diane – 617-5526107.
WOULD YOU CARE TO JOIN THE ICE CREAM CLUB? Each month, a group of
dedicated parish volunteers serves dinner at Shattuck Shelter, including the great
desserts provided by members of our faith community. Dessert is topped off with ice
cream – a real treat for the Shelter Guests. Would you care to underwrite the cost of
one ice cream “order” this coming year? That cost is $80. If you’re interested, please
contact Sr. Diane by phone or email: 617-552-6107 or vallerio@bc.edu. Or drop your
donation off at the Rectory. Thank you!
ST. IGNATIUS HABITAT- FOR- HUMANITY
CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!
Do you have a flexible work
schedule? Volunteers are needed to
join a team of St. Ignatius parishioners
that will be working at a Habitat-forHumanity construction site on Blue Hill Avenue
in Dorchester on Wednesday, November 8th.
You can do it! Energy and enthusiasm are the
only requirements -- no prior construction
experience necessary. Spend the day working to
“build hope by building homes” in partnership
with low-income families in need of decent
housing. To sign up, e-mail Anton Finelli at
afinelli@crmcx.com. Don't know one end of a
hammer from the other? You can be an
important part of our Habitat efforts by
sponsoring our parish volunteers. Look for the
sponsor sign-up form on the table in the
Gathering Space.
PARISH FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Have you signed up to participate in the annual parish support program yet? If not, please call
the rectory or stop by the table at the entrance of the church and pick up a brochure and sign-up
form for the “Pledge for the Greater Glory” program. This is the method that St. Ignatius Parish
uses to collect your regular contributions in support of the parish. You can contribute by credit
card, automatic bank transfers, or other means that you choose. Over 500 parishioners are now
participating in this program. Many parishioners are making their contributions by credit cards
and bank transfers, which is particularly helpful to the parish on those weekends when stormy
weather or vacation schedules prevent people from attending Mass and putting cash in the
basket. But if you prefer to contribute by envelope, you can do that, too. Please do your part to
support this wonderful parish by signing up for the Pledge for the Greater Glory.
