LENOIR COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES RECRUITMENT ANNOUNCEMENT PROCESSING ASSISTANT V SALARY GRADE: 61 DATE: July 29, 2013 SALARY RANGE: $23,269-$41,061 POSITION NO: 5310-04-106 DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The primary purpose of this position is to provide both clientele and employees of the agency with the efficient and prompt delivery of supportive services in work areas of mailing, scanning, purchasing and supplies. The Processing Assistant V works independently within budgetary parameters to obtain competitive costs for quality products, their delivery, pick-up and check-in. This position is responsible for picking up and delivering mail to and from the post office, courthouse, and courier box; scanning and distributing incoming mail and processing outgoing mail, and making bank deposits. This position is also responsible for maintaining equipment. This position will also serve as back-up for the switchboard. KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Able to organize and plan for months ahead. Also, he/she must possess good communication skills, oral and written. Good organizational skills are required as well as the ability to act independently, think methodically and must be well motivated. Must possess the ability to work closely with supervisory personnel and vendors. In this position the worker must be able to manage time wisely. Ability to lift 30-50 lbs and occasionally more. Must be skilled in Word, Excel, E-mail, and Internet and proficient in the use of office machines and various software. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least three years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or completion of a two-year secretarial science or business administration program with one year of office assistant/secretarial experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
