LENOIR COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES RECRUITMENT ANNOUNCEMENT CHILD WELFARE - SOCIAL WORKER IV INVESTIGATIVE ASSESSMENT & TREATMENT SALARY GRADE: 71 SALARY RANGE: $37,576 - $66,308 ENTRY LEVEL: $45,783 DATE: October 20, 2014 POSITION NO. 5310-24-205 DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The primary purpose of this position is to investigate reports of abuse, neglect and dependency of juveniles as mandated by NC General Statute 7A-542. KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices, and their application to complex casework, group work, and community problems. Considerable knowledge of a wide range of medical behavioral and psychosocial problems and their treatment. Considerable knowledge of family and group dynamics and a range of intervention techniques. Considerable knowledge of governmental laws, regulations, and policies which govern the program. General knowledge of the methods and principles of casework supervision and training. Ability to supervise, train, or instruct lower-level social workers in the program. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative; or Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work experience; or four year B.S. degree in a human service field or related curriculum including at least 25 semester hours in courses related to social work and three years of social work; or graduation from a four year college and four years of related experience.
