Position Responsibilities Supervise a team of Social Workers responsible for the provision of services in the Family and Children’s Services Division. Although this position will be assigned to supervise one CPS team, the scope of supervision also includes: after-hours on-call supervision and rotating after-hours supervision, intake and assessments. Work involves reviewing program objectives and service delivery mandates with staff and ensuring appropriate case oversight including formulation of case goals, objectives and decisions. This position is responsible for all activities outlined in the RCDSS Supervision Manual, participating in Child and Family Team Conferences, monitoring cases for compliance with State program policies and State and federal program mandates, participation with the agency Quality Assurance Program, collaboration with community agencies and institutions. Work involves supervising other teams and/or individuals as needed. Work also requires oversight of court cases, working with the agency attorney, defense attorneys, guardian’s ad litem, and court personnel. This position requires strong knowledge of and commitment to social work ethics and values, RCDSS ethics and values, and NCDHHS/DSS ethics and values. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of methods and principles of casework supervision and training. Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems. Considerable knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatment and governmental and private organizations and community resources. Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations and policies which govern social work programs. Ability to supervise, train, and orient lowerlevel social workers, students, interns, and/or other staff. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.
