An Act to Amend Chapter 311, Create Chapter 315, and Remove Chapter 802 in the
Student Government Association Code-of-Laws
BE IT ENACTED BY THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION OF THE
UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH ALABAMA
Preamble: WHEREAS, the University of South Alabama Student Government Association seeks to modernize its operating structure by updating its Code of Laws.
WHEREAS, the Student-At-Large position is not clearly defined.
Section 1: Chapter 311.2, 311.2.1, 311.2.2 shall be removed from the Student Government
Association Code-of-Laws
Section 2: Chapter 315 shall be created to read
Chapter 315: Student-At-Large
315.1The Student-At-Large of the Student Government Association shall be elected for a term of one academic year beginning at the start of the summer term. He or she shall be elected by a majority of the students voting for that office in the spring elections. He or she shall begin his or term after receiving the Oath of Affirmation as in Article V, Section 4, from the Chief Justice.
315.2 The student-at-large is required to give a report at each meeting about campus activities of interest and meetings that have been attended on behalf of the Student Government Association.
315.2.1 The Student-at-large shall serve as a voting member of the Senate and as a liaison to the
Executive Board and the administration on behalf of the entire student body.
315.2.2.1 The Student-At-Large serves as an assistant to the Executive Council.
315.2.2 The student-at-large shall complete the required twenty office hours a semester unless another number is stipulated by the Senate pro-tem.
315.2.3 The student-at-large shall serve as a chair for the Inter-presidents council and is responsible for holding at least one Inter-presidents Council meeting each semester.
315.2.4 The student-at-large will receive a stipend according to the stipend rules of the Senators.
Section 3: Chapter 802 shall be removed from the Student Government Association Code-of-Laws.
Section 4: This act shall take affect 21 April, 2015
