The University of South Alabama, a growing public research university (Carnegie Classification: RU/H) of ~16,000 students on the Gulf Coast, announces the opening of a tenure-track position in Sociology at the rank of Assistant Professor. ABD candidates will be considered, but an earned Ph.D. in Sociology will be required by the employment start date (August 15, 2016). Applicants must have expertise in Sociological Theory. Secondary specializations are open, but proficiency in some form of inequality (e.g. Class/Race/Gender) and/or Crime & Deviance will be viewed favorably. Applicants should demonstrate a clear research agenda, or potential for such, and should have classroom experience and an exemplary teaching record. The position includes expectations for service commensurate with the University’s mission.
