Graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human

Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal

Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or closely related curriculum. One year experience as an Income Maintenance

Caseworker I or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the program/areas of assignment. General knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures. Ability to communicate with clients/applicants, the public at large, and public officials to obtain data, and to explain work of lower level employees.

Ability to perform caseworker functions within structured time frames.

The primary purpose of this position is to re-determine the eligibility of applicants or clients who are requesting medical assistance into the

NCFAST Program based on state and federal guidelines. This position is also responsible for determining eligibility on a limited basis and gathers all pertinent data concerning the client’s family composition, finances, employment, and health status; verifies all data

Maintenance Caseworker II will be responsible for assisting families in transition from private living Medicaid to other Adult Medicaid

Programs such as Community Alternative Program (CAP), Long

Term Care (LTC), and Special Assistance (SA). The Income

Maintenance Caseworker II may also be required to perform functions for other eligibility programs such as Work First and Food Stamps.

This position will assist with intake as needed and perform other duties as required. The case load of this position is around 825 to 850 ongoing cases and 35 to 40 applications per month. Income

Maintenance Caseworkers can and are sometimes subpoenaed to court. Second party reviews on 75% of work is done by the supervisor.
