Management Board summary 17 July 2015 Future agenda planning Management Board was being asked to comment on and suggest potential Board agenda items featured in the future agenda ‘skeleton’. After review of the future agenda ‘skeleton’ and discussion the following topics were suggested: It was noted that there was no Board planned for August. Non-Executive Board members requested updates on any issues arising, especially regarding CSR. May Financial Report The Head of Finance took the Board through the report which they were being asked to note. The Board discussed the financial position and noted that although the position is tight, it is under control and will be continuously reviewed. The Board noted the report. Digital Deep Dive – Part 1 The Commercial and Digital Director gave a short presentation on the recent digital transfer work and technology re-boot project, to set the context for the forthcoming discussion. Board members felt that it would be beneficial to have more information about what The National Archives does well digitally as an organisation, not to understand the technical work undertaken, but to have a clearer view of any potential shortcomings. This was noted, and The Chief Executive and Keeper advised that it was hoped the forthcoming discussion with senior staff would provide some clarification. Digital Deep Dive – Part 2 The Commercial and Digital Director introduced senior members of the team who joined the discussion. The discussions covered a number of issues including: Prioritisation and Workload Branding Finance and funding Government and digital archives The public onsite experience Page 1 of 2 Digital research The Board thanked the team for providing a useful review of the digital work being carried out and felt that the discussion had been extremely worthwhile. Any other business The Director of Information Policy and Services advised that the PSI transposition proposal had passed the House of Lords Scrutiny Select Committee and would be going live later in the week. The Board congratulated the team involved for their tremendous efforts. The preceding digital discussion was briefly summarised and the importance of continuing such discussions about the future vision and strategy was re-iterated.
