Social Worker I/A/T
Responsible for investigation and provision of child protective
services, working cooperatively with the court system and law
enforcement and appearing in court. Duties include investigating
reports of maltreatment of children by their parent, guardian or
caretaker; assessing the ongoing risk to children; developing
family services case plans with the family; providing ongoing
protective services to children and their families until the risk is
alleviated; and assisting families in securing needed services in
the community. Work is performed in cooperative partnership
with community service providers, law enforcement, and the court
system. The social worker provides a variety of services to
identified clients and will be responsible for other duties as
assigned. This position will report to a Social Work Supervisor III.
Performs related duties as required.
MSW-Child Welfare Collaborative; or MSW plus one
year directly related experience; or BSW-Child
Welfare Collaborative plus one year directly related
experience; or BSW plus two years directly related
experience; or an equivalent combination of
education and experience.
Requires valid N.C. driver’s license,
good driving record and transportation
for use at work. Requires after hours
work and on-call duties assigned. An
Oral and written test will be
administered. Bilingual preferred. If
applicant lists Spanish as a second
language a verbal Spanish test will be
administered. College Transcripts

The primary purpose of the position is to be responsible for
intake, processing, and review functions of determining and/or redetermining applicant/client eligibility for services in the Long
Term Care and Special Assistance Medicaid Program. Half of
work time will be effectively training new case workers. Work
includes such tasks as: Interviewing of clients and/or reviewing
other forms of media including electronically-collected data (such
as Electronic Pre-Assessment Screening Service [ePASS]) to
obtain required information. Entering information into a webbased application to complete initial applications and verify the
information obtained. Determining and/or verifying eligibility using
a web-based application. Completing scheduled reviews by
obtaining required information and processing updated
information in a web-based application. Explain requirements and
options for obtaining the services and advise or refer clients to
other services as appropriate. Work involves performing intake,
processing and review for specialized services in the Long Term
Care and Special Assistance Medicaid Programs using a stateinterconnected web-based application. In the intake function, the
employee is responsible for obtaining all pertinent data
concerning the clients' family composition, financial, employment
and health status. In the processing function, the employee is
involved in processing clients' application through the verification
of all information obtained during intake. In the review function,
work involves the redetermination or review of the clients' case
on a periodic basis, in order to re-verify the clients' eligibility for
continued participation in assigned programs. Performs related
duties as required.
Two years of experience as an Income Maintenance
Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of
training and experience.
Adult Medicaid Casework required.

Administrative Assistant I
The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing support
to DSS staff attorneys and successfully managing multiple
projects and priorities. Work involves a variety of administrative
functions in assisting the DSS attorneys in carrying out the legal
team’s administrative activities. Employee is responsible for
serving as a staff assistant gathering, analyzing, editing, and
reporting information for various cases in both child and adult
programs guided by state statutes and local court rules and
procedures. Employee is responsible for interpreting and carrying
out established departmental policies and procedures. Work
requires considerable public contact with program clientele,
employees, and other departments in explaining policies and
procedures.
Completion of high school or equivalent and four
years of progressively responsible secretarial or
clerical/administrative/office management
experience; or completion of a two-year secretarial
science or business administration program and two
years of progressively responsible secretarial or
clerical/administrative, office management
experience; or completion of a four-year program in
a college or university preferably with major
emphasis on coursework in business administration,
public administration, or other related field; or an
equivalent combination of training and experience.

Travel Information
Counselor
Travel Information Counselors are frequently the first point of
contact for travelers coming into the County and State and are
responsible for providing accurate information and guidance.
Information must be presented in a favorable light to promote
tourism both locally and statewide. Travel Information
Counselors are exposed to the general public on a constant
basis, which may at times present difficult or dangerous
situations with the work location being relatively isolated. Must
be able to assist travelers as the first priority and also prepare
reports, compose narratives about familiarization tours, maintain
files, and unpack brochures. Performs administrative work such
as keeping records, reports and files, troubleshooting office
equipment, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is
performed under the moderate supervision of the Visitor Center
Manager and any applicable Authority officials. Performs related
duties as required.
High school diploma or GED with one to three years
of progressively responsible work experience in
sales, public relations, or other work involving public
contact, or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
