Spring ’12 Office workload has been distributed amongst remaining staff, increasing their workload. Spring ’12 Office needed part-time C.A. replacement for Ms. Wallace who was competent to assist with Office functions, events, and new student registration. Spring ’12 Office has experience decrease in productivity and efficiency due to loss of 1.5 staff members. Office is under-staffed and remaining employees are working at maximum capacity. Student services have been reevaluated and priority given to essential function in order to effectively collaborate with other departments. Recommended status of Core Activity and KPI (see menu) Continuing Continuing Queensborough Community College Non-teaching Department Medical Withdrawals – Volume of Service (1) Compared to last year’s report of 86 accepted requests, the Office accepted 72 requests from July 2011 to June 2012. Decrease in volume caused by students being referred to QCC Counseling Center as well as students not following through with their medical withdrawal requests. (2) Decrease in turnaround time in processing and approving withdrawals due to loss of one full-time and one parttime employee. (1) Assist and advise students on the medical withdrawal process and expedite requests. (2) Ensure collaborating departments are versed in CUNY medical withdrawal policy and updates. (1) Continue to have part-time College Assistant and part-time Nurse assist students with medical withdrawals in a timely manner. (2) Request additional nurse to assist current staff in order to expedite readmission of academically dismissed students. July 2013 Continuing; request for additional parttime Nurse. Queensborough Community College Non-teaching Department Health Awareness and Education – Volume of Service (attendance sheets and surveys) Compared to last year’s report, the Office has experienced a significant decrease in the number of events. Feedback surveys continue to be positive and most events have been well attended. Offer a wide array of important health workshops relevant to the student population to educate as well as to assist in retention. An additional goal is to promote future health knowledge to our student body. July 2013 (1) Attempt to Continuing maintain the number of successful events for next year. (2) Maintain collaborations and networks with other departments and outside agencies to provide insightful presentations. (3) Request additional P/T Nurse to assist in health/workshop promotion and education. Queensborough Community College Non-teaching Department First Aid Treatment and Counseling/OffCampus Referrals – Volume and quality of service (first aid logs, office customer service surveys, and accident reports) (1) Compared to the previous year of 2,582 incidences, full-time Nurse/Director and afternoon part-time Nurse provided 2,324 incidences of first-aid treatment and counseling. (2) Part-time Nurse now limited to a 20 hour week and allowed to cover only evening hours. No coverage permitted during morning hours or when fulltime Nurse/Director is out of the Office. Provide on the spot quality first aid and emergency treatment within the limited resources of Health Services. July 2013 Continuing (1) Continue to provide the campus community with immediate first aid treatment and care. (2) The Office will continue to have an open door policy where members of the campus community are able to consult with a nurse on personal health issues and concerns. An additional Nurse is recommended and requested in order to meet the foreseen increase number of students utilizing Health Services for medical services and campus emergencies.
