Implementation (Courses & Assignments) These objectives are covered in ST 100: 1. Communicate effectively with peers and faculty 2. Demonstrate awareness of retention standards 3. Create schedules to reflect competence in Time Management 4. Utilize effective study skills. 5. Use Career exploration tools for decision-making 6. Select courses for the following semester based on satisfaction of prerequisite and curriculum requirements. 7. Create academic Schedule and register for the following semester 8. Discuss mental health issues including action to take in emergencies 9. Utilize technology such as Tigermail The material is covered through lectures, discussions, small group exercises, problem solving, workbook assignments, use of worksheets Assessment Tools Rubrics Data Evaluation of Data Resulting Action For objective #1, 96% of students were aware of the expectations of faculty. Their responses reflected knowledge of appropriate communication. In response to the assessment of Objective #9, it was decided that more activities requiring the use of technology should be included For objective # 8, 90% of students met the expectation. As of fall 2012, the format of ST100 has changed to PNET to address this need and support the College’s mission to have a greater focus on eLearning platforms. It now comprises five face-to face classes and five classes on Blackboard. The topics in the face-to-face classes are: Introduction to the college experience; EPortfolio Lab; Time management and study skills; Relationships, diversity, cyber bullying and harassment; Wellness. The topics in the Blackboard classes are: eLearning Platforms; career Exploration; Understanding curricula and the College Catalog; College contract; Summary and Exit Exams. (Measurement/data collection) Data was collected using the ST-100 Learning Assessment instrument (attached) administered in the final session. Students were asked to respond to 11 questions based on the 8 objectives. Three items were selected for analysis. Meets expectations: 96% Below expectations: 4% Objective #8: Discuss mental health issues including action to take in emergencies Question #8: Your friend admits to feeling depressed. What college resources would you suggest to help your friend? Meets Expectations: 90% Below expectations: 10% Objective #9: Utilize technology such as Tigermail Question #11: What are the benefits of checking Tigermail frequently?
