This publication lists positions for which applications are currently being accepted. Applications may be obtained at the Human
Resources Office or the local Employment Security Commission. Applications are accepted Monday through Friday from 8:00
am to 5:00 pm (except holidays). Applications received after the closing date will NOT be accepted. As a condition of

Job Description
This position is responsible for interpreting and implementing Child Support Enforcement policies
and procedures. Duties include establishment and enforcement of legal child support obligations and
medical insurance; investigating and gathering information; court and hearing preparations; locating
absent parents; establishing paternity; establishing new and modifying old child support orders;
monitoring support payments; and related duties as assigned by supervisor. General knowledge of
the Child Support Enforcement program, community resources, applicable legal procedures, and
methods of investigation is preferred. This position requires the ability to produce high quality
results under pressure of tight time frames, high caseloads, and scarce resources.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Thorough knowledge of the Child Support Enforcement Program and applicable legal procedures;
considerable ability to interview clients, absent parents and related sources, and to investigate
cases; considerable ability to organize, analyze, and summarize case information; basic math
skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and absent
parents, location resources, offices of the Clerk of Court, Magistrates, District Attorney, Sheriff,
other state Child Support Enforcement agencies, other court officials and private attorneys.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a desired qualification.
Minimum Education & Experience
A four year degree and six months experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that
provides knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the work; or an associates degree in
business administration, human resources, law enforcement or closely related degree and two years of
experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides knowledge, skills, and
abilities needed to perform the work; or graduation from high school and three years of experience in
eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities
needed to perform the work; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Note: Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institution.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to physically perform the basic life support functions of stooping, reaching, walking,
pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Must be able to perform sedentary work which includes exerting up to 10 pounds of force
occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull,
or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Must have the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, perform accounting functions,
operate computer terminal, do extensive reading and determine the accuracy, neatness, and
thoroughness of the work assigned.
License or Certification Required by State or Regulation
This position is also required to maintain a valid driver’s license with good driving record and
reliable transportation.

submit an Employee Transfer Request along with completed County Application form to the Cleveland
County Human Resources Office by the closing date.
Only applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be accepted. Selection will be by structured
interview. Applicants will be reviewed to select the best qualified applicants for admission to the
interview.
NOTE: All DSS positions are subject to reallocation contingent upon funding, agency needs
and client population and are subject to perform work during emergency or disaster situations
as required and may be required to staff shelters overnight. This position is also required to
maintain a valid driver’s license with good driving record and reliable transportation.
