QUALIFICATIONS 1. 2. 3. 4. High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid Florida Driver’s License. Ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate records. Ability to read and interpret plans and specification and compare them with construction progress. 5. State licensure in category from the building code administrators licensing board or eligibility. 6. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationship with school personnel, contractors and the general public. 7. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES *1. To make field inspections on new and existing air conditioning, heating, refrigeration and other mechanical installation in district buildings for conformance with safety standards, mechanical codes and standard practices of the trades. *2. To make inspections of exhaust systems, fire sprinkler systems and swimming pool equipment. Check gas installation as to code for all types of usage. Check for proper piping and venting of gas installations. *3. To check power sources for ability to carry additional loads without danger. *4. To inspect buildings under construction for compliance with building code requirements. *5. To assist and advise contractors and others regarding regulations. *6. To inspect alterations and repair jobs as well as roofs, foundations, beams and all building work in progress. *7. To inspect plumbing and gas fitting installation during construction and examine completed installations for workmanship and use of proper materials. *8. To inspect sewer connections and advise plumbers, contractors and others regarding plumbing regulations. *9. To make technical inspection of the installation of new or modification of old electrical wiring, motors, equipment and related electrically operated apparatus. To check each project for defects, omissions, violations and other departures from correct procedure and, where work is not correct, make suggestions for change. *11. To insure all electrical work conforms to national and county electrical codes. *12. To investigate complaints of defective electrical installations which are reported as fire and other hazards and notify responsible person of defects and issues verbal or written instructions for corrections. *13. To consult with contractors and other interested parties and explain and interpret electrical standards and codes. *14. To maintain records and prepare reports of work performed, inspections and investigations as required. 15. 9. To observe all safe work practices when using tools, equipment and chemicals.
