Additional standards/ practices that are to be taught in this course:
 LAFS.K.RI.1.1: With prompting and support, ask and answer questions about key details in a text.
 LAFS.K.RI.2.4 With prompting and support, ask and answer questions about unknown words in a text.
 LAFS.K.RI.4.10 Actively engage in group reading activities with purpose and understanding.
 LAFS.K.SL.1.1 Participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners about kindergarten topics and texts with peers and adults in small and
larger groups. Follow agreed-upon rules for discussions (e.g., listening to others and taking turns speaking about the topics and texts under discussion).
Continue a conversation through multiple exchanges.
 LAFS.K.W.3.8: With guidance and support from adults, recall information from experiences or gather information from provided sources to answer a
question.
 LAFS.4.W.3.9b Apply grade 4 Reading standards to informational texts (e.g., Explain how an author uses reasons and evidence to support particular
points in a text).



MAFS.K.MD.1.2 Directly compare two objects with a measurable attribute in common, to see which object has more of/less of the attribute, and
describe the difference. For example, directly compare the heights of two children and describe one child as taller/shorter.
MAFS.K.MD.2.3: Classify objects into given categories; count the numbers of objects in each category and sort the categories by count.
Integrate Common Core Standards for Mathematical Practice (MP) as applicable:
 MAFS.K12.MP.1.1 Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
 MAFS.K12.MP.2.1 Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
 MAFS.K12.MP.3.1 Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
 MAFS.K12.MP.4.1 Model with mathematics.
 MAFS.K12.MP.5.1 Use appropriate tools strategically.
 MAFS.K12.MP.6.1 Attend to precision.
 MAFS.K12.MP.7.1 Look for and make use of structure.
 MAFS.K12.MP.8.1 Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
English Language Development Standards:
 ELD.K12.ELL.SC.1 English language learners communicate information, ideas and concepts necessary for academic success in the content area of
Science.
 ELD.K12.ELL.SI.1 English language learners communicate for social and instructional purposes within the school setting.
English Language Development ELD Standards Special Notes Section:
Teachers are required to provide listening, speaking, reading and writing instruction that allows English language learners (ELL) to communicate
information, ideas and concepts for academic success in the content area of Science. For the given level of English language proficiency and with visual,
graphic, or interactive support, students will interact with grade level words, expressions, sentences and discourse to process or produce language
necessary for academic success The ELD standard should specify a relevant content area concept or topic of study chosen by curriculum developers and
teachers which maximizes an ELL's need for communication and social skills. To access an ELL supporting document which delineates performance
definitions and descriptors, please click on the following link: http://www.cpalms.org/uploads/docs/standards/eld/SC.pdf
