KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES: Possess current knowledge (within the past two years) of Food and Nutrition Services policy Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to details Proven ability in the use of computers and proficiency in using Microsoft Word Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff from local Departments of Social Services as well as clients, public and private agencies involved in income maintenance decisions Demonstrated working knowledge of State information systems (NC FAST, On-line Verification, etc.) Knowledge of and/or the ability to interpret State Quality Control process and procedures Reside less than a two-hour drive from Pitt County Department of Social Services Office Management Preferences: FNS supervisory or lead worker experience Excellent interviewing skills Current FNS program knowledge MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from a four-year college/university with a degree in a human services field, business administration or public administration and two years of experience as an income maintenance caseworker or investigator; OR Graduation from an associate degree program in human services technology, social services associates, paralegal technology, business administration, secretarial science and four years of experience as an income maintenance caseworker or investigator; OR Graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks and four years of experience as an income maintenance caseworker; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
