SPNA GUIDELINES: Renewal of contract requires meeting regular work load requirements and competent teaching
performance during the previous contract period with evidence of improvement and professional development, including
scholarship and/or service to the university, community, or profession.

Students want more feedback, should get grades and comments back sooner. Should give more than 1 or 2 words
Suggest more exams for individual feedback
Undergraduate course reviews good.

Teaching outside of the university is at the discretion of the Dean. It would be hard to get a reduced load if she’s still
teaching at another institution.

Due to scheduling, she had to let PA 330 class out early to get to get downtown for other class

First semester was very chaotic, but it has toned down.


Books and professional publications are acceptable route to tenure.

Documentation of peer-review process is very important.

Peer-reviewed journal articles are encouraged, particularly for promotion consideration.

Serve on college or university committee for moving towards tenure and promotion. However, she did run for
committee position but didn’t get it.

Motion to vote for renewal of Dr. Schilte
Dr. Balfour moved that Dr. Margaret Schulte be renewed for two years. Motion was seconded by Dr. Jelier.
