Edition 2009 BORRON® WP – Special Auxiliary Features BORRON® WP is a special auxiliary for use in the preparation of waterproof leathers and in addition, it has a beneficial effect on the distribution and fixation of anionic fatliquors & retanning agents. Handling: Wear goggles and gloves during handling and close containers tightly after use. Storage stability: Can be stored for about 1 year (from date of production) if kept between 10°C and 35°C. In any case, protect from frost and heat above 40°C. Stability to electrolyte and in chrome floats: Not stable. Stability in vegetable tanning floats: Not stable. Benefits BORRON® WP is a dual purpose auxiliary for waterproof and nonwaterproof leathers which can be fixed with acid or metal salts. BORRON® WP enhances dynamic water resistance by improving the distribution of silicone based waterproofing agents and by its own intrinsic waterproofing effect, (after acid or metal salt capping). BORRON® WP is also excellent for the wetting back of dried out wet-blue and crust materials, and is especially useful for waterproof leathers. BORRON® WP has a dispersing effect which improves the penetration of subsequently applied retanning agents and fatliquors, without reducing waterproof or fogging values. BORRON® WP improves shade intensity and dyestuff exhaustion. BORRON® WP is free of nonylphenol ethoxylates and as it helps to improve the uptake, distribution and fixation of fatliquors it can be beneficial for the COD of spent floats. BORRON® WP can helps to improve tear resistance, in appropriate recipes. 1 Our application recommendations are in line with our present state of knowledge. Product INformation continued Edition 2009 BORRON® WP – Special Auxiliary Application BORRON® WP can be added to the drum after dilution with water or, it can be added together with appropriate waterproof or non-waterproof fatliquors. The main application for BORRON® WP is in the wet-end production of waterproof leathers. Depending on the requested article, the following applications are recommended: Waterproof upper leather: 0.5 – 1% BORRON® WP together with DRYWALK® FAT or DRYWALK® WAS-1 0.5 – 1% BORRON® WP in a separate bath before the final chrome fixation, for at least 20 min. BORRON® WP is recommended for use in the soaking and liming steps for the production of waterproof articles: Salted bovine hides European origin: 0.2 – 0.3% BORRON® WP in main soak 0.1 – 0.2% BORRON® WP in liming Note: It is advised not to use BORRON® WP in the deliming, bating, pickling or tanning process-steps. BORRON® WP is highly suitable for the wetting back of wet blue and crust materials for waterproof articles: Wetting back of crust: 1 – 2% BORRON® WP in the first bath for at least 30 – 60 min. or, over night The positive effect of BORRON® WP on the fixation of fatliquors (and therefore the major reduction in COD of the spent float) and dyes can be seen in both waterproof & non-waterproof articles: Upper leather: 0.5 – 1% BORRON® WP added to the fatliquor mix Nappa: 0.5 – 1% BORRON® WP added to the fatliquor mix Upholstery wet white: 0.5 – 1% BORRON® WP applied with each fatliquor addition 2 Our application recommendations are in line with our present state of knowledge.
