How to Set Up an Email Vacation Message!

1. Launch any Internet browser and enter “http://physics-mail.ucsd.edu” to login to the Physics Email Portal. Click
on the Login link for the Original webmail version to begin.
2. Enter your Physics Username and Password then click on the Login button.
3. Once logged in, click on the Set Up a Vacation Message or Server-Side Filters link.
4. In the next window click on the Add a New Rule button.
5. Under the Condition heading, click the Less... button twice so that only one condition is shown. Click on the
Header drop down menu and select "All". Under the Action heading select "Vacation". Enter your email
address in the Addresses: Only reply if sent to these addresses: field.
If you have multiple addresses for your account, enter those as well, using a comma to separate the addresses DO NOT PUT SPACES IN BETWEEN THE COMMAS AND THE ADDRESSES. Example:
address1@physics.ucsd.edu,address2@ucsd.edu,user2@physics.ucsd.edu
Next, enter the contents of your away message in the Use the following message field. If you would like your
auto reply message to go out every time someone sends you an email, change the Days: Reply message will
be sent after to “0”, otherwise leave it at the default “7”, which means each sender will only receive one auto
reply email per week, no matter how many emails they send you in that time period. Finally, click on the Add New
Rule button.

6. Your vacation message is now set up. Click on the Sign Out link in the upper right hand corner of the screen to
log out.
To turn off your vacation message, log in to the Physics Email Portal and click on the Set Up a Vacation
Message or Server-Side Filters link. Place a check in the box next to your vacation rule and click on the Delete
button.
