Health Clinic News
Getting Sick while at school: Please
remember that those students that call
parents and Parents decide to pick up, then
send student to the clinic are not nurse
excused absences. Students must come to the
clinic and be evaluated and meet some
physical/mental need of being sent home. It is
important that we are in class.
It is against school policy for students to have medication
on them – PARENTS should bring medication to the clinic.
MEDICATIONS: Please remember we need to follow
Burris Policy for medication dispensing ALL medications
prescription and over the counter need to be prescribed by
a physician. (this policy has been in the Burris handbook
and has NOT changed) Over the counter medications include:
Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Midol, Benadryl, tums, COUGH DROPS (due
to choking hazard), allergy medication… Medication forms will
soon be on the Burris website. Medications will NOT be
accepted if brought in by student or if NO physician order
on file. Physician orders are not the sticker that the
pharmacy places on a bottle. Physician’s orders are signed
by the physician with instructions. Parents must also sign
permission for medications to be given while at school.
Physicals: Updated physicals are due for:
ALL new students, Kindergarten, 4th & 9th graders.
If you have had a sports physical make a copy for the clinic or ask
you physician to complete the ISHAA form and the school physical
form. Sports physicals are kept in the athletic office. The clinic
will not know you have a sports physical on file unless you send a
copy to the clinic. It is parent responsibility to get copies to both
offices when needed.
Call and get your appointment
scheduled for your physical.
