More Than a Test
APRIL DATES:
In the next month, students in grades 3-5 will take the math, reading
and science sections of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment
(MCA). There is value in using these tests to gauge student progress, and as a tool to measure overall academic performance at
Rosemount Elementary and our students achievement. I admire the
work and dedication that our students and staff put forth to prepare
for, and do their best on the MCAs. Without minimizing any of
their efforts, I know that this is just one indicator of student and
school performance. There are so many exciting events of learning
and exploring that will never be formally used to measure growth at
RES.

I am confident that our students’ scores on the MCAs will give a

at the same time, we will celebrate all of the terrific learning opportunities and activities that our students are engaged in on a daily
basis.

Use of e-mail at Rosemount Elementary School:
We value effective communication at our school. The use of e-mail has increased over the last few years. Most of our staff members do not have
their e-mail accounts open during the school day while they are working with students. As stated in our handbook: The staff at RES have an agreement to reply to e-mails within two school days. If your need to communicate with a staff member is urgent, please call the school office (651-4237690) and we will relay your message to the appropriate person.

Also, we worked with the PTO on a community service project: we created homemade scratchboard

than pictures of familiar objects). Our work was featured in the Silent Auction! Next month, students
will be making recycled art, and every 2nd grader
needs to have an empty cereal or cracker box.
