Senior Resident Assistant Job Description TITLE: Senior Resident Assistant IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Resident Director Position requirements: Candidates should enjoy working in a community setting and fostering a collaborative and educational community among ONU students. Applicants must: Be enrolled full time (12 credit hours a semester) as ONU students Be enrolled for the entire academic year Have a minimum GPA of 2.25 Have lived on campus for at least one semester Have previous experience in Residence Life at ONU or other institution Any additional employment must be approved by the Director of Residence Life and may not exceed 10 hours per week. Outside work and activities must be acceptable to the extent that they do not interfere with expectations and responsibilities of the Senior Resident Assistant position. The only exception is employment related to the academic curriculum such as clinical rotations, student teaching, internships and co-ops assignments. Position Responsibilities 1. Community Development – Community development is the main priority of an SRA. Each SRA will create 2 active and 1 passive programs each month, post 10 office hours to be available to their residents, and participate in an on-call schedule. Addressing behavioral issues in the hall is part of building a community based on personal responsibility. SRAs must be comfortable upholding the student code of conduct. Lastly RAs are resources for their community and know how to make proper referrals to the counseling center, academic affairs, or other offices on campus that can address the students. 2. Facility Management – SRAs work together with RAs and RDs to manage the facilities of their building. They will promptly report maintenance concerns, and perform room checks on a regular basis. SRAs also facilitate the process of moving into our out of the Residence Halls or Apartments. SRAs will manage and track the work orders for their respective building. 3. Administrative – RAs will attend weekly staff meetings, monthly in-service trainings, and fall and spring training to gain the knowledge necessary to perform their job tasks. RAs must also communicate effectively verbally, as well as written skills used in emails. RAs will also fill out all required reports in a timely manner and submit them to supervisors. 4. Staff Relations – RAs work as part of a collaborative team to build communities in their buildings. They must have excellent communication, time management, and conflict resolution skills. Staff members will work together to build on each other’s strengths throughout the school year. Compensation All Senior Resident Assistants will be paid a salary equal to 1.5 times the standard room rate. SRAs that work in the traditional residence halls must be on the meal plan. SRAs that work in the campus apartments or affinity complex are not required to have a meal plan. SRAs that work in the apartments must have a roommate.
