In this class you will explore the system used in the United States most closely. However, it’s important to understand other systems of
government.
Complete some outside research on different types of government.
Researching dictatorship, monarchy, republic, socialism, communism, and democracy as individual topics will help you to find information
more easily in your search.
Read about each form of government and consider:












What are the advantages?
What are the disadvantages?
Who makes the rules/laws?
Who enforces the rules/laws?
Who reacts in a crisis?
What is the status of common people?
How are citizens treated and what rights do they have?
How are non-citizens treated and what rights do they have?
Who is responsible for commerce and trade?
How quickly can the country react to internal and external forces (example, wars and disasters)?
How is property handled?
Which countries have, or do, use some version these systems of government? (Note: countries can often fall into several of these
categories)
Wikipedia gives very complete descriptions of these forms of government but there are many other sites out there and you should use at least
3 other sites.
