1) Welcome
a) Sign- In Sheet
b) Tami Schultz, Principle, overseeing meeting for Stacey Klein.
2) Looking Back:
a) White Long Tables: Missy Westereng
i) Met with Don, custodian, and looked over a few different table options
ii) Ten Long White Banquet Tables 72” X 29”
iii) $87.99/Table, Shipping and Handling Included
iv) Voted to move forward with purchasing these tables
v) Tables expected to arrive before winter book fair in February.
b) Chip Shoppe: Vicki Truesdell, Chair Email: vicjune@hotmail.com
i) Chip Shoppe fundraiser to be Westview’s School Fall Fundraiser for next 2 school years.
ii) Westview gains 2% more in fundraiser sales from signing 2 year contract with Chip Shoppe.
iii) Vicki and Tami to sit down with Dan from Chip Shoppe to discuss fundraiser dates for the
2016 fall fundraiser.
iv) Westview earned a free inflatable for 2016 Spring Carnival through “Froggy Hops”.
(1) Vicki to call and get more information on free inflatable for carnival.
(2) Westview to receive the tadpole package.
c) Turkey Bingo: Erica Baker, Chair Email: ebaker@northlandins.com
i) Turkey Bingo was on Wednesday November 25th, 2:30pm
(1) It went great!! Students loved the prizes and loved gobbling down the hall!
ii) Ordering of prizes went very well
(1) The “Goo” was a very popular prize and went very fast!
(2) The Inflatable’s were also a very popular prize
iii) Idea for next year: possibly give away prizes that fall along with Bulldog STRONG Theme:
(1) Ie: Lunch with a teacher, Help set up for gym class ect….
(2) Helps to save money that would be used on prizes for this event.
d) Yearbook: Christina Vincent, Chair Email: Cvincent3@gmail.com
i) Yearbook Order forms were Due December 14th
(1) Received a total of 115 year book orders
(2) Checking to see if orders can still be placed to allow a table to be set up at conferences.
ii) Pictures are still needed to build yearbook.
iii) Yearbook Gmail account created for Pictures to be sent to:
(1) Helps to allow parents and teachers to submit pictures for yearbook

3) Looking Ahead:

i) Bookfair earned $3518 towards new items for the school library!!
ii) The winter book fair begins Tuesday February 9th – Thursday February 11th
iii) Brand new selections of books that have just been released for 2016.
iv) Read N Feed: Wednesday February 10th
(1) Extra tables will have arrived and will be used for parents to join students at read n feed.
v) Seeking volunteers, especially day shifts for Bookfair.
vi) Bookfair classroom bingo will be held during this winter’s Bookfair
(1) 1 bingo card/classroom
(2) Typically done on the morning Westview News
(a) Sheila to talk with Lauri Himmer in regards to showing on school morning news.
(3) Bingo Cards to be made by Gwen’s 5th Grade Helper
b) Hospitality: Vicki Truesdell, Chair Email: vicjune@hotmail.com
i) Tuesday February 9th, 4-7pm is the next Hospitality dinner for teachers.
ii) Vicki to send out sign-up genius for dinner and post to Facebook page for volunteers.
c) Box Tops, Chair: Sara Stenaas Email:
i) A winter submission will be handed out around February
ii) Bright Pink Envelopes handed out to collect more box tops for Westview  Great Idea!!
d) Target Give Back Program:
i) Target “Give Back” Program ends January 2016
ii) Typically received between $3000-$3500 from Target
iii) Used to help supply school with supplies for classrooms
iv) Keep eyes open for possible other community programs that donate/give back to schools.
(1) Possibilities looked into:
(a) Surveys that are completed by Westview Families?
(b) Eric Peacock to put together power point presentation regarding possible donation
program through his fitness business. Presentation to be presented at February PTO
meeting.
(c) Another fundraiser? Not favorite idea, due to so much for Westview Families
(d) Possible funds earned from Carnival? Or from Carnival’s Silent Auction or Raffle?
e) Westview’s 50th Anniversary:
i) Taking school picture, outlining the word “STRONG” with Westview Student’s and Staff for
50th Anniversary.
ii) Southview Elementary was contacted to borrow drone for photo.
iii) 50th Anniversary to be held on April 23rd!
f) Westview Family Night: April 5th? Possible International Culture Event:
i) Held at Westview between the hours of 6:30-7:30 or 6:30-8pm?
ii) Potluck style event, where families of Westview are invited to bring in a dish to share with
other Westview Families.
iii) Math Stations to be set up to help incorporate a “Math” theme to the evening.
iv) A great way to do a get together for families to meet other Westview families.
v) Westview would provide all paper products and utensils for potluck food.
g) Westview Health and Wellness Night!! January 26th, 6:30-8pm
i) Flyers went home in Friday Folders on Friday January 8th, 2016
ii) Valley Natural Food is sponsoring the event!!

i) 2016 Fundraiser:
(1) Packets to be sent home with student: Friday February 5th, 2016
(2) Packets to be handed in to Westview: Monday February 22nd, 2016
(3) Delivery of ordered Butterbraids: March 9th, 2016
ii) Things to do for Fundraiser Prep:
(1) Missy to email for volunteers to do packet labeling for student packets.
(2) Missy to set date to count fundraiser money, after packets are handed in.
(3) Missy will be adding announcements regarding the fundraiser to the following places:
(a) Westview School News
(b) Bulldog Bulletin
(c) Westview Email
iii) Class Incentives:
(1) Class with highest number of participants: Popcorn party!
(2) Class with highest amount of Butterbraids Sold: Popcorn Party!
(3) Shout-out on Westview News program to top 5 sellers of Butterbraids.
iv) Money raised from Butterbraids to be used towards Westview Technology
4) Committee Reports:

i) First Carnival Meeting: Tuesday January 25th at 6pm
(1) Coffee, Cookies & Carnival!
(2) Making a huge effort in appreciating the volunteers who make the carnival a success!
(3) Main Focus of meeting is to get assigned group facilitators and to prep for handing out
donation letters to community businesses.
(4) Sarah to send home flyer for January 25th meeting with students in Friday folders on
Friday January 15th
(5) Sarah to have email reminder of meeting the week of January 18th.
ii) 2016 Carnival Theme: STEAM! Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math!
(1) Looking for another booth idea to incorporate more art to the carnival that students can
do ( we currently have sand art)
(2) Invite AVHS’s National Art Honor Society to help out at carnival in Art Booth?
iii) Discussion on Silent Auction, Pros/Cons vs. Raffle
(1) After discussing as a group, Sarah Sutton, Carnival Chair has decided to move forward
this year with a Raffle instead of a Silent Auction.
(2) Sarah and Carnival Prep Team will be looking into places to donate prizes for raffle.
iv) State Farm Agent Dave Melle has reached out to Sarah Sutton and wants to be a part of the
2016 Westview Carnival!! Dave Melle’s State Farm team donated and ran the snow cone
booth at 2015 Carnival. They also donated “Bulldog Strong” cups to be sold with snow
cones.
c) Scholarship Committee, Chair: Sonja Monsen Email: jrrtfans@pobox.com
i) Westview is set to award two scholarships of $500 to two graduating seniors that are
former Westview Graduates.
ii) Westview Graduates need to apply by April 15th, 2016.
iii) On Average 10-12 Westview graduates typically apply.
iv) Volunteers needed to read and review essays that are turned in.

iii) DaCapo Choir has 47 students participating

a) Feed My Starving Children School Wide Volunteer Opportunity for Westview Families
i) Saturday February 6th, 11:30-1:30pm
ii) Located in the old location of the Apple Valley Rainbow Foods
iii) Suggested age of volunteers: 3rd grade and older
b) Location of February PTO Meeting: Due to book fair set-up the library is unavailable, PTO
meeting to be held in conference room down the purple hallway.

b) Bond Updates:
i) Tami is a part of the Elementary School Bond Group, which has been having weekly
meetings.
(1) Team is looking into locations for possible elementary school.
(2) 2 possible sites, Apple Valley & Rosemount
ii) There are currently 4 groups working to move forward with Bond changes:
(1) Elementary Group (Tami)
(2) Technology Group
(3) Boundary Change Group
(4) Safety/ Security Group
iii) Parent Information Night: Held Tuesday January 5th, 2016
(1) Gave prospective families an opportunity to meet Westview staff, teachers and
past/present parents and students and to hear about their experiences with Westview.
(2) Gave prospective families also the chance to ask any questions regarding Westview
(3) Great turn out!!
iv) District Wide Start Times Discussion and Review
(1) The district is currently reviewing start times of elementary, middle and high schools.
(2) It is currently being studied that adolescents would benefit from a later start time of
school.
(3) Tami received input from PTO and Site Council parents regarding thoughts on the
earliest and latest start time parents would be comfortable with for Westview’s
students.
(4) Tami to report to district all input received by January 20th, 2016.
