Stuart Yager
Spring, 2015
Welcome to EDL 617! Our first class session will be on Saturday, February 28 and will
meet via video conference to all three campuses – Macomb, Moline, and UCLC. Dr.
Kilmer will be teaching the first weekend and I’ll be teaching the last two weekends. You
will need to bring a laptop to each class session and have access to your Western
Online account. The course syllabus will be emailed to you soon and will be posted via
Western Online. The syllabus provides most of the information about the course and the
requirements for students. Lectures, discussion questions, articles, presentations, and
sample assignments are all posted online. Our course will be available in Western Online
within the next week. I’ll email you when it is available and you can go there and post a
welcome message in the thread I started under the “Discussions” tab.
For the first class session (February 28):
1. Bring a laptop computer.
2. Bring the required textbooks. These textbooks are listed below.
3. Study the syllabus before February 28.
4. Be prepared to share a current event or a current article from a magazine or
newspaper related to school leadership and/or school law.
If you have any questions concerning the course, syllabus, or assignments, contact me via
e-mail ( so-yager@wiu.edu ) or my cell phone (309-255-0955).
