Physics of Weather & Climate G&G 322/522, Fall 2013 Tuesdays & Thursdays, 1-­‐2:15 pm, KGL 119 1st meeting Thursday, August 29, 1 pm, KGL 119 Instructor: William Boos, william.boos@yale.edu This course will provide a foundation in atmospheric science, at a level appropriate for upper-­‐level undergraduates or first-­‐year graduate students. The focus will be on the thermodynamics, radiation, and fluid dynamics responsible for planetary-­‐scale atmospheric flow and its role in weather and climate. Prerequisites: Multivariate calculus and partial differential equations (e.g. MATH 120), and basic physics (e.g. PHYS 181).
