Zoology Classroom Expectations
Tips for Success
 THIS IS AN HONORS CLASS! Expect HARD WORK. Note taking is necessary.
 Treat yourself, others, all specimens and all equipment with RESPECT.
 Be PREPARED, on time, and ready to learn when class begins.
Materials
1 to 1½ inch 3-ring binder, dividers, pen, pencil, colored pencils, metric
ruler
Notebook
Organized in chronological order by unit.
Keep ALL papers to use as a resource and for your own protection.
Headings
Name, date, period, and name of assignment on every assignment, or NO SCORE.
Absences
Excused
Unexcused
Make up work ASAP. 2 days grace for every one day of absence.
1 point can be earned for any assignment given or collected
on unexcused date.
Tardies
First unexcused tardy is free. Each subsequent tardy = ONE PERCENT
OF SEMESTER GRADE will be deducted for each tardy. (Can be worked
off; see the teacher.)
Late Work
Only accepted with attached Mercy Moment Coupon. See coupon for
limitations. No late work accepted the last 2 weeks of the semester.
Cheating, Plagiarism, Cell Phones, etc.
Cheating of any kind (including copying another’s work) on any assignment is strictly forbidden
and will result in a zero for the assignment or assessment in question, notification of parents, and
notification of school administrators.

Cell Phones must not disrupt class. One ring is free. Text messaging is prohibited.
Infractions of this policy will result in phone confiscation. Student will call parent to arrange for
parent to retrieve phone from an administrator.
Programmable Electronic Devices of any kind are forbidden during any
assessment. Use of such a device will result in a zero for the assessment in question, notification of
parents, and notification of school administrators.
Help
The teacher is available during the following periods: 1, 4, 5 and before or after
school by appointment. Please notify the teacher to arrange a time for help. Come
in AS SOON AS YOU FEEL THAT YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND!!!!

A= 100-90% B=89-80%
C=79-70%
NO ROUNDING OF GRADES!
Assignments = 20 %
Labs = 30%
Final exam is worth 15% of the total grade.
D=69-60%
F=59.9% or ↓
Tests & Quizzes = 35%
All other exams = 200 pts. each.
Extra Credit
Extra credit is available to all students several times during the semester, to
be announced by the teacher.
