• How? For each can of cola, the unopened can is weighed using a scale that measures
to the nearest gram. The can is opened and the contents are consumed. The can is
rinsed and allowed to dry. The empty can is then weighed on the same scale. The
difference in weight (full can minus empty can) is the weight of the contents.
• Why? To investigate the weight (grams) and its relationship with volume (cans of
cola are labeled as containing 355 milliliters).
